Current projects
An organisational
effectiveness review for a leading edge IT consultancy.
Following acquisitions, this growing company was encountering
a number of internal stresses whose combined effect was to create
some disfunctional behaviours - in different parts of the organisation
- that were beginning to damage. We used our Insight
diagnostic to evaluate data from all levels within the organisation
and helped the management group to identify a number of interlinked
interventions to improve the effectiveness of the business.
Even the initial communication of the plans produced a significant
positive response from the workforce who had been looking for
top management for clear direction and leadership.
... and a review
for an high profile public institution.
This client had recently completed a major capital investment
programme in excess of £50m; the project had dominated
the thinking of both top management and the organisation as
a whole for over 5 years. With its completion, there was a pressing
need for the management team to fill the vacuum and sense of
anticlimax that ensued with a renewed, shared focus. We used
Insight
to help the team achieve consensus about the underlying operational
and organisational problems that needed to be addressed. Via
a two-day workshop the management team gained a renewed focus
and identified a number of interlinked projects to re-establish
the required energy and direction.
Providing long
term organisational support.
As a result of legislative changes, this client has been required
to hand over its functions to a different entity and will close.
Consequently the organisation as a whole and the individual
managers and staff were under considerable long term uncertainty
and stress. Our role has been to support the individual managers
through their extended career transition and also provide them
with advice and support on best practice in the management of
protracted closures.
We have now
completed around twenty "Start Your Own Consultancy"
workshops.
Our two day workshops have been attended by over a hundred senior
executives including PLC directors and partners from professional
practices. We use a novel self-assessment exercise to enable
participants to understand how their strengths and weaknesses
compare against those needed to become independent consultants.
This information helps them to decide what complementary skills
would be desirable for their venture and whether, for example,
setting up a partnership might be preferable to being a sole
trader. Those attending have found these aspects as valuable
as the traditional content which covers topics such as business
structure, marketing, managing risk, proposal writing, professional
indemnity, data protection, record keeping and VAT. |
